Diane McCrea has held a variety of non-executive positions in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Prior to her appointment as Chair of Natural Resources Wales, she completed her term of office with the Consumer Council for Water as Chair of the Wales Committee and Vice Chair of the Board for England and Wales. Following this term, Diane was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for services to Water customers and the water industry.
She has direct experience of developing and delivering strategies and policies that reflect changing needs and aspirations in a range of diverse environments, including water, food, transport, housing, customer service and communications, and publishing. She has extensive knowledge of evidence based policy, service delivery and improvements for consumers, customers, and the wider public in Wales, the UK, Europe and internationally.
Diane’s early career was in academia at Middlesex University, followed by Which? magazine. Later in her own consultancy she worked with a range of clients, including consumer organisations, regulators, worldwide NGOs, WHO, FAO and The World Trade Organisation.
She is a member of Ofwat’s independent working group on resilience, and in Wales is the Chair of Shelter Cymru. Diane is also the independent Chair of the Soil Association’s Certification Scrutiny Committee.
